Now Caring for Children on Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+)

Posted by Jon Savage on Mar 15, 2018

As part of our ongoing effort to improve access to high-quality healthcare that is both convenient and affordable, we are happy to announce that we are now seeing Colorado Access Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) patients.

Recently Congress has renewed federal funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program, also known as CHIP, for the next 6 years.  This means that state programs can continue to take care of children and pregnant mothers in need of healthcare.

The CHP+ program is public low-cost health insurance for certain children and pregnant women whose families earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to be able to afford private health insurance.  This program covers primary, urgent, and emergency care as well as hospital services, prescriptions, immunizations, maternity care, and behavioral health.  Additionally, children are covered for dental care.

We currently are caring for CHP+ patients associated with Colorado Access which geographically covers more than 50% of the state of Colorado.  Colorado currently has more than 167,000 children enrolled in the program with Colorado Access covering more than half of them.  To see the Colorado Access CHP+ Service Area Map Click Here.

How does this work with Care on Location?  Well, it's pretty simple.  A family creates an account at Care on Location's website anytime 24 hours/day.  As part of this we recommend installing the video visit software on your computer or phone. Then during our clinical hours which are evenings and weekends when most other offices are closed, log in to Request Care.  You then enter a virtual waiting room where you see how many patients are in front of you.  If more than 2, go about your normal business but keep your phone nearby to receive the text when you are next to be seen.  Once it's your turn, go back to the browser where you initially requested care and hit JOIN CALL.  You will be greeted by our friendly, expert Colorado based care providers with years of experience in treating kids and adults.

Along the Colorado's Front Range we can order blood test and x-rays as well as send medically necessary prescriptions to your local pharmacy.  After the visit is over, we can send a copy of your visit notes to your regular doctor or clinic if you desire and we will send you follow-up notes and medical information about your visit.

We look forward to being able to help take care of the children of our state.
